NIMBA Attends Launch of New Belfast Cycling Accreditation Scheme

19 Apr 2018 2:26 PM | Rick McKee (Administrator)

A new cycle-friendly employer accreditation scheme was launched in Belfast today by Cycling UK.  Whilst the scheme is targeting the promotion of cycling in general as a great activity in a commuting and leisure capacity, as opposed to mountain biking, the crossover with the interests of the average mountainbiker are clear, and NIMBA was delighted to attend and support the event.

Basically it's about getting more and better facilities for cyclists into the workplace - practical steps such as bike lock-ups, stands, showers and lockers for staff, and various incentives for staff such as mileage recovery.

More info on the scheme on the Cycling UK website:

NIMBA had been invited to attend the event by Cycling UK following recent communications between Cycling UK and NIMBA about cycling on Belfast's Cave Hill.  Cycling UK had provided very welcome assistance for the very active and positive local rider group Cave Hill Mountain Bikers, whom NIMBA were also supporting.  This support was in relation to getting a workable sustainable solution to the challenges of managing the interface between all different types of folks who currently enjoy the fantastic Cave Hill.
